About Jean

I am open, friendly and easy to talk to, with a good sense of humour.  I try to put people at their ease because I know it can be difficult to take that first step.  My approach to counselling is to create a warm, relaxed and supportive environment in which to discuss the issues you would like to work through in counselling.

I won’t tell you what to do, but I will work with you in a non-judgemental, constructive way to see what feels right for you.  The sessions are structured in such a way that you will be given the time and space to really contemplate what you hope to achieve from counselling.

Sometimes life can become complex and when it does, the best advice that anyone can give to you, is to take some time and space for you. Counselling can help you through what might be emotional territory and support you in clarifying your thoughts.  Helping you articulate and interpret all the different elements of a problem can often bring about change.  You then begin to feel empowered in finding the right way for you.

The first session is at a reduced fee of £30 (excluding couple counselling), so that you can come along to see how I can help. You are free to walk away with no hard feelings if the counselling or the counsellor does not feel right for you. There will be no follow up call from me, it’s entirely in your hands as to whether or not you feel that we can work together.  Research shows that if you do not feel comfortable with your counsellor, the higher the likelihood of an unsuccessful outcome.

Relationship Counselling

Every relationship goes through emotional or stressful periods, if you feel your relationship is getting out of balance, then relationship counselling may help with communication.  Often an impartial observer can help facilitate communication so that it doesn’t feel too emotional. Counselling can often help promote a more insightful/analytical approach in understanding the dynamics of the relationship.

My counselling practice is situated 100 yards from the sea front, with easy parking.

If you have never had counselling before, I try to make the first session as stress free as possible. Please don’t be afraid to ask any questions.
