I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. I am Registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Accredited). I qualified in counselling and psychotherapy over 15 years ago, and continued with my learning to master’s degree level. I am a Supervisor (Certificate in Supervision BACP Endorsed) to qualified counsellors and students of counselling.
I see clients through my independent, private practice for short-term or long-term work, covering a wide range of issues and problems; from the breakup of a relationship; bereavement; work related issues; career change; family issues; illness; becoming a carer; confidence issues; feeling at a crossroads with life and not knowing which way to turn.
I work with individuals, couples, carers and adolescents over the age of 16. I take referrals from private individuals, the education sector, the NHS, private clinics, TV production companies, local and multi-national organisations and agencies. I work in a flexible way to support clients in reaching their full potential.
Previously I worked as a Manager in the NHS, mainly in the area of conflict resolution – helping people to resolve problems or difficulties before they became a major issue. I qualified in management; advanced mediation (accredited); conflict resolution management; before going on to study counselling, philosophy and psychotherapy to master’s degree level; but my most important qualifications have been gained through the University of Life!
As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I adhere to the strict Code of Ethics, Confidentiality and Complaints Procedure. Due to the sensitive nature of my previous work in the NHS for over 20 years, I have undergone regular Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks and also for my current role as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist I have had the necessary Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. I am familiar with the requirement of Child Protection issues and Vulnerable Adult Procedures. I attend regular Supervision sessions in accordance with fitness to practice regulations.
I am also on the Register set up by the Department of Health – Professional Standards Authority for Health & Social Care (the Authority). This ensures that members of the public, employers and commissioners have a right to competently delivered services from counsellors and psychotherapists on the Register.
